e.g. remove an element.

This was my first original image. I chose it because it had something quite obvious to crop out.

Using the crop tool in Photoshop, I edited out the record player to draw emphasis to the shape of the model and the patterns of the materials.

This is my second original image. I chose this one because it was a bit more of a challenge to crop something out of it.

With this image I changed it completely by cropping just the boots, using the crop and rotate tools. This makes the image just the boots at a weird angle which I really like.

2: Add at least one new element to your original image. This element such as material, film negative or a piece of text must be scanned and added to your image to create a new piece of work.

I decided to use text on these photographs for this task. I wanted to keep it really simple as the photos are very simple themselves. The text is made by a label maker, which I then scanned in and cropped.

I chose to use text which relates to the era I am aiming to mirror, so have chosen to look at lyrics from songs relesed at the time. 'She's a Rainbow' is a song by The Rolling Stones.

The process of getting the text onto the photo was very simple in Photoshop. By dragging the text and using the selection tool to split up the words, I was able to arrange the text how I wanted.

This was my second original image for task 2.

I again chose of song title relating to the era with The Kinks' 'Dedicated Follower of Fashion'. This is quite relevant to the photograph I chose to use.

I tried the text simply slanted covering the models faces (achieved by using the rotation tool), but felt the effect would be better shown if each model had a seperate word covering their face. This is to highlight the texts meaning by just showing the models clothes.

This was again created using the selection tool to seperate the words and the rotation tool to slant the text to the right angle to cover each face properly.

3: Combine two of your own original photographs to create a new image.

These ae the first two image I chose to combine. Using these studio images was quite hard to when it came to this task as each image is only of people so my only options were to cut and paste different people into different photographs.

I tried different original images to begin with, dragging the photo of my female model onto ones of all the male models. I did this by using the magnetic lasso tool to select the part of the first photo I wanted to drag to the second. These I don't feel worked and chose to just pick a photo with just one other model on it.

Again the photo just didn't look quite right as the female model looked like she was looking at something or dreaming of something. When she was put in the picture, the male model was on the wrong side of her for it to look like it was him she was looking back at. Using the flip horizontally tool, I changed the side of the photo he was on and then dragged the photo of my female model to fit.

Then by changing the levels on each photo to look my alike, they blend better as one.

These are the second two images I chose to combine.

By using the magic wand tool I was able to select the white background that my first model stood on.

This made it easy when I dragged the first photo into the second because the background was gone.

I simply cropped the now new image because I thought it would work better as a more profile like image of the two models.

Again changing the levels of each photograph made them blend better as one image.
