60's Inspired Photoshoot-29th Feb 08

The shoot on 29th Feb went well. First to try and create a grey background like these:

I used the black paper backdrop and tried to light it to make grey, lighting the model seperately. This just resulted in very dark photographs, with the background just looking black. I then tried with a white backdrop, hardly lighting it at all but concentrating on the model. At first when trying just one light on the model, the whole set up looked far too dark.

We eventually managed to get it even with two lights in front of the model and two behind, all with brollies on. This made the lighting quite soft and I was able to change one of the lights levels to give more shadows.

The background is quite grey in these photos, although it could be darker if the studio was bigger. This would have let me move further back with the camera making the light behind the model darker. However, I am please with the shadows I managed to achieve in a lot of the photographs.

For some on the shoot I experimented with props to give a feel of the era and create some interesting imagery.

However, I feel the best shots are the simple, well cropped and lit ones. Like these:
