John French was one of my biggest inspirations for my first project. Even though he was a little earlier than the major 60s photography scene, he was the one who taught David Bailey everything he knew. As his apprentice, Bailey was in on all his shoots helping out, learning from the best. I wanted to look at his studio work and the way he lit his photos. I want to try and recreate both the high and low key lighting he uses giving a really styled look to his work.
David Baileys work was so influencial in the 1960s and he has become such a well known name. His box of pin ups featuring the likes of Mick Jagger, Lennon and McCartney and Micheal Caine is such an inspirational piece and has been a major influence.
